Nayef Nawaf lives in a charity-run orphanage in Baghdad with 33 other children. Nayef was eight years old when fighting began between the Iraqi government and ISIS in his home town. When his parents died, he ran away to Baghdad in search of his older brother and a place to stay. Each child in the orphanage has a tragic story. Over a period of nine months, this film tells the story of Naif and his fellow orphans. Thousands of children have been orphaned during Iraq's recent, bloody past. Some of them are cared for by members of their extended family. se children are the forgotten ones, with no family to take them in. The Safe House orphanage struggles to stay open and receives hardly any funding. But still, manager Hisham Al Thahabi keeps the Safe House open, making sure children like Naif have a place to stay.
